Thyroid Update

Thanks for everyone's kind words of support yesterday. It really does help to know that there are others out there who understand. I appreciate your willingness to share your stories and experiences with me.

My biopsy went well today. The doctor gave me some encouraging statistics that eased my mind. (90% of thyroid nodules are benign.) We'll get the tests back in about a week. In the meantime I am going to make an appointment with an endocronologist and see what I need to do to get some medicine. I feel like today was definitely a step towards getting myself back to normal.

SOOO glad Jessi! I have been wondering!! Thanks for the update! It can be so scary. And the good news, thyroid cancer is very easy to treat and pretty much almost 100% curable! My friend actually had it last year. :(
One bit of advice: DO NOT take the generic thyroid medication. Take Synthroid. It helps regulate it sooo much better!! And if your Dr writes that you can not take the generic brand... then you get it for the generic price. :)
Hope that helps!! Good luck! I hope you start to feel better soon!!

Just thing, you have a tangible THING to blame your bad mood on!

Good to hear, Jessi! I once had a ultrasound of my thyroid just to make sure it was ok, because apparently it is big! The DR or Nurse refered to my thyroid as a goiter! A GOITER!! Isn't that an attractive word?! I told my husband and we laughed and laughed and laughed! Anyhow, I take Levothyroxine which is a generic but now I'm thinking I should talk to my DR about taking the non-generic after what your friend Shana posted above! Very interesting. But anyway, aren't you just thrilled to know that you know someone with a GOITER?!!! lol!

So sorry you are dealing with all of this. Hope you are able to get things back on track soon. I think thyroid probs run in the family I had a biopsy for my thyroid and I have a goiter which I'm taking small dose of thyroid meds for. Mom had Thyroid problems too. Hang in there, Hopefully, it is a rope and not a thread.
