Something sweet

I don't usually buy candy, but one of my summer survival secrets is to always have something sweet up my sleeve when I need to snap my kids out of a funk. It's amazing what a little taffy, a popcycle, or some Oreos can do for a kid! When I pulled the taffy out the other day Emily said, "This is the nicest you have ever been, Mom!"

And when they are happy they are far more likely to listen when you ask them to do the dishes, clean their rooms, or vacuum the floor. :)

You and Mary Poppins, "Just a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down!" And the kids aren't the only ones to benefit from this bit of wisdom, I think!

I have tried SOOOO hard to break the sugar habit and it comes down to. "I really don't WANT to break IT" I should, however, no go so overboard as I do. What a detailed yummy picture. And I don't even like taffy that much but it sure doesn't stop me from eating it when it looks this desireable.
