Tutu How To

We just made these Tutus in an enrichment activity this morning and I had to share the how-to's. It was so much fun and super easy.

Step 1: Get 6-7 yards of tule. (You can get it all one color or split the yardage up between colors.)
Step 2: Cut the tule into 6"x12" strips (or longer if you want a longer tutu).
Step 3: Cut a piece of 1"width elastic to fit around the waist of the little girl who will wear the tutu.
Step 4: Sew (zig-zag) the ends of the elastic together to form the waistband.
Step 5: Fold one strip of tule in half lengthwise. Wrap it under the waistband and pull the loose ends through the fold and then pull snug. (This should tie the piece of tule onto the waistband kind of like you would tie a European knot in a scarf.)
Step 6: Repeat step 5 until you have a fluffy, darling tutu!

What a genius idea - so easy, fun, quick, and fluffy! You could use this principle for various and sundry Halloween costumes, don't you think? I like it!
