The way to err

Like most parents I tend to second-guess myself. Last night in a conversation about how I disciplined one of our daughters David passed along some beautiful parenting advice....

Err on the side of love.

Sometimes I get so caught up in the right and wrong of things that I fail to look at the big picture. And while there are some absolutes, most situations require a unique perspective. I've written before about being motivated by love instead of pride, and this lesson is further evidence that love should be the underlying principle behind all of our actions. I imagine I'll be striving my entire life (and then some) to reach the point where my love is perfect, but it's a good goal to be working towards.

Always good to step back a bit. We are often too close to the forest to see the trees. Thanks for the reminder
