Family, Fun, & Fitness

Last year David and I participated in the CVS Strong Legs Run race at Turner Field. It was such a fun event that this year we decided to make it a family affair.

Audra & Mike did the 5K first while we watched the kids. They totally kicked bootie.

Mike finished in the top 5 of his age group (without training!) and Audra finished in the top 10 of her age group. I was totally amazed by both of them.

It started out as a friendly competition, but in the end I think the were both really proud of each other.

While Audra and Mike ran the kids worked off their nervous energy by doing handstands and running around.

They were all totally pumped up and ready for their turn to race.

David and I were the 2K chaperons.

The kids tried to act all cool, but I think there were a few butterflies at the starting line.

At the sound of the starting gun they took off and left me in the dust! :)

Kyle and Jordan kept up a blistering pace the entire way. David ran with them because there was no way I could keep up. These boys definitely got their Mom & Dad's running genes.

Lydia and Kelsie ran most of the way together. I think there are more races in these girls' futures. They are natural runners.

McKenna didn't love it quite as much. But she did an awesome job!! I sang "Eye of the Tiger" to her while we ran and pulled her along. It is proof, once again, that she can do hard things.
It was so much fun participating together as a family. We may have to make it a tradition.

Oh my goodness I have a good-looking family. You all look so good!

And WOOHOO for all of you! Especially McKenna! I am so proud of her. That is so awesome that she ran it even though it's not her favorite thing. She should feel so good about herself! And good job to everyone else too!

I thought about you all today running your races! Did you hear me cheering for you as I flew from Arizona to Oregon? I think you guys are all AWESOME runners! Congratulations!

I'm glad you guys had a great time. It was nice to see ya'll there. We brought up the rear of the pack :). About halfway up the first hill, Mikayla decided she was tired, so we did the rest of the race with her on my shoulders. At least one of us got a good workout!

Ok, I love that picture of all the kids taking off at the starting line! So much excitement! So much adrenaline and where's Aunt Jessi? :) Oh, I see her.:) Haha! That made me smile. But seriously, great for you, Jessi, to run that race.

I want to do that with my family! That looks like you had so much fun. You will have to let us know when you do it again and we will bring our family out too!

Okay several things.
1. How tall is that gorgeous sister of yours anyway?

2. You still have no bum. I love you. And where is that chubba post partum body you stinker stinker stinker. I'd hate you if I didn't love you!

3. I know this is twisted but it is in no way meant to be twisted. Whenever I see pictures of Audra's fabulously handsome boys and your gorgeous girls I get a little sad that you guys are sisters and not just BFF's so your kids could grow up and all marry each other. Okay. . . its twisted. But don't say I didn't warn you!

4. Rocky songs ROCK!

5. Okay I'm out of stuff. Still stewing about that cute bootie of yours.

Love you!
