Ups & Downs

Some of the best marriage advice I've ever received was given to me by my seminary teacher:

"Make sure that when one of you is down, the other is up."

In our relationship David is usually the one up. But of late he's had some major stress at work and I get to help shoulder the burden he is carrying-- and for the first time in our marriage I am able to really appreciate the weight of fatherhood. We all know that motherhood is one of the hardest jobs on the planet, but the Dads are right in there with us and deserve a lot more credit. My husband is one of the hardest working people I know. And the pressure he is under is immense. Yet, he tries so hard to make time for his family, to serve in the church, and to maintain a cheerful disposition. I could not do what he does. (And I am grateful I don't have to!)Without him I think our world would stop spinning.

You are so cute. David is such a great person and so are you. You make such a great couple and you both always seem like you re "up" to me! I would never know either one of you is "down".

I agree wholeheartedly! Husbands and fathers are so important, and often get overlooked in their contributions and responsibilities.

Dave is one of the hardest workers I know. I would go crazy if I had his workload.

Being a good father is hard and being a good mother is hard and it is wonderful when they help each other as much as they can. We are doing our part with prayers every morning and every evening and all the time in between! We Love You Both!

This is so true and I think it's great to really look and recognize what the other person does....it makes us love them even more!

Amen! I've always liked that advice. Sometimes we have to decide: okay...which one of us is the crazy one today?!
