Guilty pleasure

Lydia stayed home from school today because she was sick. She is a sweet little sick kid. She tries to be tough and endure it well, but she does like to be pampered. I set her up on the couch with her cozy fleece blanket and asked her if she wanted to watch a show on TV. With an embarrased smile she said, "Can I watch Barney?" I was tickled. My Lydia is mature far beyond her years, and more than any of my other girls is sensitive to what others think of her. Some of McKenna's friends have commented on how they don't like "baby movies" and Lydia has picked up cues from them. So, I thought it was awesome that when she felt sick she found comfort in a good old friend. If only all our guilty pleasures were that sweet!
