I've never been a huge fan of housework, but I love to have a clean house. My big frustration with cleaning is it gets undone almost as soon as I finish. A recent page in my scrapbook magazine helped me see it in a new perspective though. The journaling said:
"It doesn't take much to make me happy-- the little things do the trick. I'm all about the instant gratification of housework. Dirty dishes? A little water, some dishsoap and presto-chango-- Clean dishes! Dirty windows? Grab some Windex and with a little bit of elbow grease-- there you have it-- crystal clean windows! Dirty clothes-- no problem. You know how that gets done. And don't get me started on vacuuming..."
My initial thought was, "Yeah, there is some instant gratification in that, but it sure doesn't last long." But then I thought about how long the experience of eating ice cream lasts and I started to think that maybe housework wasn't so bad. (At least I'm trying to have that perspective!)
