A few days ago a group of 2500 astronomers from 75 countries held a conference in which they established guidelines defining what celestial bodies can be considered a planet. As a result Pluto was stripped of its planetary status. For over 75 years textbooks have taught that our solar system consisted of nine planets, but now that "truth" has to be redefined. This change is evidence to me of the falability of man's wisdom. I believe that man has an incredible capacity to think and discern, but we are limited. Science, reason, and human emotion are frail and imperfect standards. For this reason I am so grateful for revelation and a living prophet. Whether Pluto is an official planet is of little consequence and is therefore left for man to define, but there are eternal truths that are independent and perfect. I try to navigate my life based on these eternal truths and rely daily on personal guidance from on High. I cannot imagine making it through life basing my faith on the wisdom of man.
