I know it's probably not right to have a favorite apostle, but if I did have a favorite it would be Elder Holland. His messages always resonate so powerfully with me. (As do messages written by his wife, Patricia.) Lately I've spent a lot of time watching BYU-TV while I feed Chloe and they recently broadcast a BYU devotional he and his wife gave in 1983 entitled "However Long and Hard the Road." Go HERE to download a PDF transcript or Mp3 file. You must read or listen to it if you ever struggle or face things that challenge you. I promise you will be inspired.

I must've watched the same program as you because I was so happy the other day to tune in to KBYU and see Brother Holland give one of my all time favorite talks. I read that talk several times a year. The devotionals come on here at 11:00 am, I will think of you and Chloe now while I am listening.
I was watching BYU TV too, but I had to turn it off to go to bed early for sem, so I taped it. I can't wait to listen to it again!
I have a book called "However long and Hard the Road" by Elder Holland. that by him. It's a great book. I have referred to it often. It's a great message.
He and his wife are some of my favorite also. I have a couple of their books and have used their messages often in lessons etc. I do need to review this one. Thanks
Thanks again for bringing this article to my attention, puts everything in proper perspective.
As I often lament the unfulfilled expectations in my life and lack of the fruits of my labors witnessed, I get renewed hope to keep going and continue doing what I know I should however long the road, even into the Millenium.
