As for your last post on shoes, man, that is hard. I do have to say that I went to my Mary Kay lady's house yesterday to pick something up and she asked me to take off my shoes, and that seemed totaly weird. However, your post made me think about it, and I really think it's okay. I have asked people to if they were going upstairs after the carpets were cleaned, but after a few months, I stop asking them to!!!
