Something creative

My Mom is one of the most talented and creative people I know. She has a fundamental NEED to be creative and we are often the lucky recipients of the things she makes. I remember during our last vacation to Oregon I asked my Mom to show me how to crochet a granny square. We had been busy site-seeing and entertaining the kids and were pretty tired, but I could almost feel her soul sigh as she pulled out her yarn and started demonstrating how to make a granny square. She needed a creative outlet to help her body and mind recharge. She stayed up late into the night making granny squares and surprised us a few weeks later with this darling doll afghan.
In a smaller measure, I have inherited this trait from her. For the past several weeks I have been busy organizing, cleaning, managing, and maintaining and have not taken time to be creative and am starting to get the creative itch. It's so exciting to think about the possibilities of what I can make!

Thank you for the kind compliment! I can't wait for you to start your next quilt! It's going to be wonderful!! Or your next apron, or whatever creative outlet you choose! Your creativity leaves me in the dust!

Mom is so good at making things beautiful, I think the name of her blog is perfect. We are lucky to be her daughters!

I love it! The other day I was trying to find a doll of mine from when I was a baby and I ran across all of this knitted stuff from my Great-grandma. I started getting that creative itch too. I started thinking I would like to learn how to do beautiful things too...we should work together! I hate it that you can't get together on Fridays. Maybe an early-out day?

Jessi,
I love it! :) I still have my crochet afghan doll that Grandma made me when I was little. Now the nieces are just loving it! :) I kind of want to take it home with me so it doesn't get ruined... But then again, the girls have fun playing with it. I bet your girls loved the doll your mom made them! That is so cute!! Good Job Grandma! Keep doing stuff like that because it reminds me of the things grandma Pyne would make for us! You are very talented and creative Jessi! :)

I still have something that my grandma crocheted for me and she gave it to me when I was like 13 years old. The colors then that were popular were orange and yellow!! I pulled the article out of a box the other day when I was cleaning. It brought back many memories. You are so talented Jessi!!! The doll blanket is beautiful too.

I love the stuff Grandma crocheted for me too. I will never part with them. I too need so badly to have a creative outlet. It is such a stress reliever for me. I only recently figured this out. It's my own personal therapy when I get overwhelmed. :) I have finally sat down and worked on a quilt I've been doing for Elicia. It has taken me FOREVER to complete. But I am so close. I'm determined to finish it this week. My house isn't as clean as it should be and there's other things to do. But that's okay.
