Over the weekend...

One of my January resolutions is to have a special date night with each of my girls. On Saturday night it was Emily's turn. David and I dropped the older girls off to spend the night at their cousin's, put Summer to bed, and then were free to focus our attention on Emily. She is our "middle child" and is often in want of attention, so you can imagine her excitement at having us all to herself. We played a couple games of Uno and then sat at the kitchen table, ate Honeycomb cereal, and talked. During our conversation I realized (for probably the millionth time) that Emily is such a delightful little person! She still cannot pronounce all of her letters, so sometimes I take for granted how quick and perceptive she really is. The highlight of the evening was when I asked her what her "favorite things in the whole world" are (expecting a response of Wonder Pets or ice cream). Here is her response word for word...

"Um, my favorite is Heavenly Father and Jesus becauses they help us in our troubles. And you guys because I don't have to stay with strangers and mothers and fathers aren't mean, so I'm thankful for you guys. And our home so we don't have to stay outside when it's cold."

I was humbled.

In other news, Summer is now as Sunbeam! When we first walked into the primary room she was not thrilled with the idea. She proclaimed loudly "I don't want this class!" But once David got her situated she had a great time. After church she was so excited to show me the pictures she had colored and she still hasn't taken her new CTR ring off. I can't believe that my BABY is in primary.

And last but not least, congratulations to David's brother, Brian and my new sister-in-law, Marla on their marriage! They tied the knot on Saturday in a family-only ceremony at the church. It was a privilege to be there and we wish them the best!

Wow! It's amazing what kind of testimonies kids have when you don't expect it. That's great that Summer loves her new class! And congrats to Brian and Marla!

Cailey is now in Summer's class so, she isn't the only girl! They seperated my twins to help even out the classes...they seemed to really enjoy Primary! The woke up this morning both saying "I lost my ring, I need another one!" I'm glad Summer still has hers.

What an important concept to have as a part of your family. "Date night". That's awesome. They'll remember those times for the rest of their lives. She's growing up so fast and such a doll!!!

Emily is a sweetheart. I was touched when she told me after one of her prayers, "I remembered Jesus. I love Jesus." She is a four-year-old spiritual giant.

Summer is a character! I LOVE that picture of her and her STRONG personality. Look out Junior Primary, Summer is here!

That is a great tradition to start - one-on-one time with each child! Keep it up!
