I realized that I've never told "our story" on my blog and thought this would be a fun way to dish the details.
Where did you meet your husband? We met in September, 1996 by the pool at the Stadium Terrace Apartments in Provo. We were in the same ward and met after a ward FHE activity. (How "typical BYU" is that??!!) We had both kind of noticed each other at church the day before but didn't actually meet until Monday night. (Apparently David had sent one of his roommates to catch me after church, but I left before he could talk to me). I wasn't interested in dating at the time and was just excited to have some good guys to be friends with. David had other things in mind though. We joke that David wooed me with service. He and his roommates came and vacuumed our apartment and changed our lightbulbs. It didn't take me long to realize that he was quite the catch.
Where was your first date? Our first date was to Park City. Our first date was to Park City where we watched movies at a cabin that belonged to Dave's friend's family. We were also supposed to go in the hot tub, but there wasn't any water in it. David was SO disappointed. I wasn't. Who wants to be seen in their bathing suit on a first date? On the way to Park City we also stopped at Granny's in Heber. I wasn't hungry and didn't order anything at first saying "I'll just have a bite of yours," to which David replied "No, you won't." David was quick to explain that he wanted ALL of his food and that he'd get me my own shake and then if I didn't finish it he would eat the rest. He's gotten better at sharing since then. :)
First kiss? Our first kiss was in Kiwanis Park (totally BYU again, I know!) a couple weeks after we met. We'd gone there for a picnic lunch between classes. When it was time for me to get to class I stood up and started getting ready to leave. David, however, didn't get up. I knew exactly what he was thinking and was a little nervous. I wasn't sure I really wanted a boyfriend and for me kiss=boyfriend. I had also made a personal commitment that the next boy I kissed would be the one I married. I was also nervous because I didn't want to be played and thought that David might just be out for a little action. I liked him a lot though and really needed to get to class, so I let him kiss me. I stressed about it after, but it turned out to be the right thing to do!
Did you have a long or short courtship/engagement? SHORT on both accounts-- we met in September, were engaged in December, and got married in April. Looking back I realize I was kind of in a fog through the whole thing. I was only 20, had had no intention of even dating that year, and all of a sudden found myself swept off my feet. I also had the hardest classes of my college career that year and was a little overwhelmed by everything. But, I prayed a lot and am so thankful for the guidance of the spirit. I knew David would make me happy and that I wanted to be with him forever. When it's right, it's right.
Where did you get engaged? We got engaged on a carriage ride around Temple Square in SLC. It was bitterly cold and completely romantic!!!
Where did you get married? We were married in the Salt Lake Temple. It was the most wonderful day. The weather was perfect, the tulips (which we had helped plant in the fall) were in full bloom, and we were surrounded by family and friends.
How did the reception go? After our sealing in the temple we had a wedding breakfast at the Lion House. The food was really yummy and I really enjoyed being with everyone. Our reception was at the Bungalow in Pleasant Grove, UT. To be honest, I don't remember much of it except that we took a lot of pictures, we weren't allowed to smear cake on each other (much to my relief!), and that everything was very pretty. In retrospect, I wish we wouldn't have had a greeting line and that we would have had dancing.
How was the honeymoon? Our actual honeymoon was spent at the Anniversary Inn in Logan. It was so nice. Then, in August we went to Hawaii. I totally recommend doing it that way.

I love your story! It's funny, because while this all happened I thought you were both SO old and mature and grown-up, but reading about it now, I feel like you were young at the time. Crazy how that happens.

Great story. Thanks for sharing. I had forgotten that you lived in Stadium Terrace too. I was in the 83rd ward then. But then next two years I was in the 196th, which is where I met my hubby Aaron.
Very nice picture and thanks for the story!
