Did you know?

I recently got my hair cut and while I was there I mentioned to the stylist that my hair felt like there was a lot of build up on it even though I've been using clarifying shampoo. She asked me what shampoo I'd been using and I told her Pantene. She told me that Pantene is one of the WORST things you can put on your hair because it has wax in it that coats the strands of your hair. When the wax builds up the conditioner cannot penetrate the hair and you start getting a lot of breakage. I didn't know that!!! She recommended Redkin (at $13 a bottle!). I've noticed a lot of you are willing to splurge on hair products. What do you use?

I actually use Dove, and it works GREAT! It costs about $5 a bottle but if you get the moisturizing one it makes your hair really soft. I have used just about every kind of product you can try and Dove is better then all of them!

I alternate shampoos, but the "expensive" bottles in my shower are Biolage. I find that if I alternate between a few, it is better on my hair, and that way I don't go through the expensive stuff too fast. I'll never forget your post about the dove campaign awhile back, like Kami, I like their products...

and catching up on previous posts... loved the romance/love/marriage post... and tooth trauma... can TOTALLY relate. Hannah killed her front right tooth when she was two and a 1/2, running into a storage tote, I'll post about it, we just had to have it pulled. I hope Lyd's tooth heals quickly, the mouth usually does.

I also like Biolage. I have been able to find it on sale a lot so it is about $14 normally $20. Since I'm the only one in the house using the expensive stuff it is no big deal. I also don't wash my hair every day cause it is very course and dry. My hair always looks better if I haven't washed it for a few days.

I use Pantene all the time, and I don't really find that it builds up terribly. It does, however, help for me to alternate and use a different shampoo every once in awhile. I use a very small amount of conditioner, because I don't want the conditioner to make my hair slick, because then it won't hold the style that I want it to.

I have heard that about Pantene. I use to use it too and my hair dresser said "no, no!" Too funny. It must be true then! I like Artek (great for colored or highlighted hair) and Biolage.

Yes, I knew that. Pantene feels all soft at first, but it is deceptive. Plastic hair doesn't turn out as well as it begins - haha.
I use Aussie products when I'm being cheap - always picking intensive care conditioners. And I use Biolage when it is on sale or when my wonderful hairdresser gave me blond hair and now I have to take better care of it.

How sad is it that Pantene is my "expensive" shampoo that I alternate with V05, which I just picked up on sale at Kroger for 54 cents a bottle!

My hair splurge is Shaper Plus hair spray, which I usually get on sale at Ulta, buy 2 get 1 free.

I've tried Dove before, too, and really like it.

First of all, thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog; I love new friends!
Now, on to the embarrassing admission: I did know that Pantene is supposedly really bad for your hair (a past stylist told me that once,) but do you know what is in my shower right now? Two economy sized bottles of Pantene Hair Poison!
If I was going to splurge on the nice stuff (which I just may do one of these days,) I'd go for Biolage. I also like Slickline (I think that's what it's called, it comes in an orange bottle and smells like h-e-a-v-e-n!)

I never use the cheap stuff and if I do, I alternate (which is best to do). I have redkin in my shower right now but I do not like it as much as biolage. I am also using Matrix, which I LOVE!!! I think that you would LOVE biolage if you tried it. I am lucky enough to have Kristi get all of my hair products REALLY cheap since she is a hair dresser so that works nice. But get away from the Pantene girl!! :)

Expensive hair products is a must for my thick course hair. A few months back I started using Redkin All Soft and I love it! I had used Biolage for years but, needed a change and I love the All Soft. I don't have to use very much and I bought big bottles when it was on sale buy one get one half off at the hair Salon either at the outlet or Walmart. It last me a long time and I'm still on my first big bottles I bought back in May. I have other cheaper shampoo or my rejects I've tried for my kids and hubby. My hair is always so soft. I too don't wash my hair everyday or it gets too dry!

Okay, I admit, I use Suave shampoo...yep, at .99 cents a bottle, and I don't have to freak out when the girls dump the whole thing in the bathtub to make bubbles! I swear it never builds up...I think it's too cheap to have that many ingredients in it!

However, I splurge on conditioner. I love Biolage, but that even builds up after a time, so then I switch to Aussi (I think that's what it is in the purple bottle) and then switch back.

Dave insists on Fructise conditioner...now that totally builds up in my hair!

I'm lucky because Kristi always gets my expensive hair product at "her" cost since she's a beautician. I use Biolage, Amplify and Purology. I also have a good clarifying shampoo that I use once a week and it's by Matrix..then occassionally I use the Pantene which I have for Rog..hahha..

Hey Jessi. I usually buy the good shampoo and conditioner at the little salon that's inside Wal-Mart. I know it's crazy, but they usually have some sale going and I can pick up liters of the shampoo and conditioner for around 20-25 dollars for both. I've tried Paul Mitchell, Biolage, Matrix...you name it. I haven't had a problem with any of them...whatever is on sale. :)

My stylist told me this too. I think it's just a conspiracy theory.

Then again, I believed her and use the pricey stuff. KMS (smells yummy) or Redken.
