Every good gardener has a compost pile, and since I WANT to be a good gardener I want a compost pile. I've been bugging David about it for a while now and then finally I took it upon myself to get the ball rolling (or the food rotting as the case may be). I went to the library and checked out a book on composting. I was all excited until...... I read that compost piles have a tendency to attract rodents. And I have BIG issues with rodents (aka- mice & RATS). I can hardly type the words without having a mini-meltdown. So, now I don't think I'm cut out to be a good gardener. I'm sure there have to be ways to prevent the you-know-whats from getting at my "garden gold", but if there is even a chance of attracting them I don't think I'm up for it.

What is a compost pile?? I have never heard of it...
A your neighbor I totally support your decision - I am not a big rodent person either :-)
I hate rats and mice!
Compost piles are naty anyway! You can just buy good mulch at the store. We never had a compost pile and our garden looked fine.
Shana, compost is rotting food and garbage you let decompose and turn into mulch then put it in your garden as fertilizer.
YUCK! Ya, I would NOT do it either! You're making the right decision!! :)
You can just buy compost at the gardening store!
Hey Jessi - if you want to compost without attracting rodents, according to what I read on the subject - just don't put any food in there - just yard clippings, sticks, etc. I tried it myself but it was so much work to keep the stuff turned to let oxygen in to help with the decomposition that I gave up. I buy it at the store too. :)
I absolutely hate rodents. They terrify me. I would pass on it too.
