Ever since I was 11 years old and read "Anne of Green Gables" I have dreamed of having a white farmhouse with gables and a wrap-around porch. I wanted cushioned windowseats that look out over a blossoming cherry tree and a lush and beautiful garden. I envisioned myself cooking and keeping house and enjoying all things domestic. When we bought our house my dreams almost came true. It's obviously not everything I dreamed about, but pretty close. We have a front porch with a porch swing, a little cherry tree, and a garden that challenges and delights us. Over the years there have been a few times we've had to seriously consider moving and one of the things that broke my heart was thinking about leaving our little house. By most people's standards our house really isn't anything special. It's pretty little (1600 sq. feet) without any fancy upgrades or fixtures, but it is our HOME. Someday I know we'll have to leave it, and when that moment comes I'll cry. Looking back over the years we've spent here I know that we couldn't have been any happier in the queen's palace. As far as I'm concerned, love grows best in little houses.

i think your house is darling. i would be sad to leave it, too. you could always just add on!
It took me awhile until I realized its the people and their experiences that make a home special. Your home is dear to me because of who lives there and the experiences I have had there. We will all mourn when you have to move away from your beautiful home!
What an awesome post! I love it. And to tell you the truth, when I first saw your home I fell in love with it! I couldn't believe that it was your home because that is exactly what I have always wanted too. I love your porch and I love all of the flowers that surroud it and you are right... Love does grow better! I hope you never have to leave it, because it is beautiful!
And thank goodness love grows best in little houses, because heaven knows that we have been in tight quarters these last eight years of our marriage!
Oh, I totally agree...and Audra's commment made me laugh. I lived in a one bedroom cinder-block apartment for the first years of our marriage!
It's not how small it is but that you've decorated it with your own style and filled it with love and wonderful memories. It's so beautiful!!! And i'm jealous of the porch. I've always wanted one.
Your house is beautiful!
ADORABLE!! I love it! I love my houes, too, but it isn't what I always dreamed. I don't think I'll ever have that, but what I have instead is lots of friends. I do have flowers and I decorate it with what makes me happy. I just create my own Green Gables.
I just had book club yesterday and we discussed that book and I created my own little "Sunday School picnic".
