My kids are out of school tomorrow, and in preparation I've made a list of ways to keep them busy and entertained this summer (in addition to the everyday activity of going to the pool). Since many of you are facing the same challenge I thought I would share my ideas.....
- Design personal flag for flag day (June 14)
- Opposite Day (pizza for breakfast, make sihlouettes, dessert first with lunch, breakfast food for dinner)
- Self-portraits (trace body on large butcher paper and decorate with variety of mediums).
- Paint old sheet with fabric paint and then make into a quilt.
- Make paper-mache bowls
- Make leis and have Hawaiian haystacks for dinner
- Disco bowling (dress up in crazy clothes and go bowling)
- Reading chart (the kids get a star for every 15 minutes they spend reading, and when they fill up their chart they get to go to McDonald's for an ice cream cone).
- Make stamps out of potatoes, sponges, etc, and decorate t-shirts
- 24th of July party (wear bonnets & aprons, have pioneer theme activities & food)
- Make woven placemats & paper plate hats and have a "lemonade party"
- Use sugar cubes to make scupltures.
- Dance!
- Go on a hike in the mountains
- Watercolor paintings
- Decopauge boxes
- Fruit loop art
- Make own stationary and write letters to grandparents
