As I was vacuuming on Monday Emily kept getting in my way. She followed me from room to room and I had to repeatedly ask her to "move." It wasn't until I was doing the stairs that I realized her intention... to be with me. She didn't want or need anything except to keep me company. And once I started paying more attention to her she just lit up. She started telling me stories, singing me songs, and I LOVED it. I realized that in not too many years I won't have any little friends around and how sad that will be! It is sometimes hard to feel like I am accomplishing anything when I'm interrupted every 30 seconds, but those "interruptions" are what make my life meaningful!

This is such a great story!! That's so great you recognized her need for attention and were able to give her attention. I bet it was fun to listen to her tell stories and sing songs! She is so darling.
You are wise! Way to go!
Thanks for the reminder! I needed that!
This is a great reminder. I have thought latley about how if I am available to listen to them now, it can mold our relationship and they can know that I will always be available for them. (does that make sense) We have a lot of resonsiblity on our shoulders as "moms"! Especially with our little ones who depend on us for so much. Some days all the "interruptions" seem to take a back seat to the insignificant stuff.
That is awesome Jessie! I need to do that more often. My kids are ALWAYS wanting to be at my side, but I know that it is because they want my company. Thanks for posting this!!!
