Every Monday I face the daunting task of cleaning my house. I'm not one of those sainted women who ENJOY cleaning. I dread every moment of it, but I LOVE the way my house feels when it's all done. Over the years I've learned a few "tricks of the trade" that make my job, if not easier, at least more bearable.
1. MUSIC
2. Talk on the phone. (Then my mind is somewhere else while I'm scrubbing the toilet).
3. Set up incentives and mini-breaks. (ie. Once I mop the floor, then I get to sit down and write my blog!)
4. Enlist the kids. (Emily loves to vacuum!)
5. Put on a little make-up. (It's amazing how a little blush and lip-gloss can make me feel like a person again).
What are YOUR tricks of the trade???

Thanks for commenting my blog mom.
Just wait until Mike has an episode of obsessive compulsive cleaning and then my house is totally clean!
No, I do clean. Music helps a ton. But if I talk to someone on the phone I get distracted and end up sitting down and just talking! I usually am a slow cleaner, so I challenge myself to see how fast I can do it. Then it is kind of a game. But either way, I still don't like to clean. How much are maids?
Only take on as much as your "emotional cleaning strength" can handle. Chop up jobs so they don't overwhelm.
I love the music idea! A little music with a good beat could keep you going. Thanks for the tip!
I clean one section of the house top to bottom once a week and leave all other deep cleaning until the next week when it's that section's "turn." I pick up around the house every day, but I don't deep clean, except for on that certain day. And sometimes, I just skip it all together!
BTW, I'm not ignoring your email...I'll reply soon!
Lots of red-bull and metalica.:)
My trick is a maid...(I've looked Audra, it wasn't too bad) I keep on threatening to get a maid for just the bathrooms. But Chris just gives me a look.
So I haven't done it, probably never will. I would feel to guilty.
I actually don't mind cleaning itself. I just don't like all the interruptions that come, that make a 10 minute project a 40 minutes one.
Oh yeah,
My real trick of the trade is www.flylady.com check it out. It gives a lot of different ideas on how to manage our homes without letting it overwhelm us.
