A few days ago my friend, who just returned to work after having a baby, said she felt "in her element" when she went back to the office. I could not relate. Because I had McKenna while I was still a student I've never had a full-time job, and in all honesty I don't ever want one. I am in my element when I am at home. Like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, I believe "there is no place like home." Staying at home taking care of kids is hard. There are times (every day in fact) when I want a break and would love to drop them off somewhere, but ultimately I want them home with me. I take great satisfaction knowing that I am a "homemaker", and I think our home reflects the time and energy I put into making it a place of beauty, happiness, and comfort. It is nice to get out for a while, but at the end of the day HOME is where my heart is.

Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, it helps that you're so good at it.
You create a beautiful home where the spirit resides. My family loves being in your home.
And hey, who took that picture? I like it.:)
AGREE COMPLETELY 100%. When I had to go back to work I dreaded it soo badly. I wanted to be home with my kids being a "mama" to them! I don't like the thought of other people raising my children! It is wonderful to be a mom, the greatest calling or job above all. Your home is beautiful!!
Jessi, you are such a good writer. And you are also such a good mother!!
is it okay to covet a front porch?
