I live in a relatively small community, yet the Family Haven (the organization we donated the blankets to) has sheltered over 150 women and children and have answered over 1730 hotline calls in the last year. These statistics made me realize that there are women and children that I cross paths with that are desperate for help. I cannot imagine living in a situation where my home wasn't a "haven", and I cannot imagine being in a relationship where I couldn't trust my husband. I know my contribution to these women and children's lives is miniscule, but I also know that the little I do, when combined with the efforts of others like me, can make a real difference.

This is so good to remember! And something I really will need to remember when I get home. There are needs and opportunities to serve everywhere you go--you don't have to go to Africa (or Romania...) to help people in need. Thanks for this post, Jess.
