My nativities

After 4 days of work I have almost all my Christmas decorations up. Every year the first thing to go out is my collection of nativities. I LOVE them. I believe strongly that the setting of our home has a dramatic impact on the spirit in our lives, so during Christmas I try and make our decorations very Christ-centered. (Although I do still have a small collection of Santa & Snowman stuff). It is fun to see my kids searching through the house to find the various "baby Jesus".

My Mom made a nativity like this when I was a little girl and I have memories of looking at it and rearranging the pieces. A couple years ago she gave me the pattern and supplies to make my own. Now I love watching my girls having the same experiences I did.

Here is where the bulk of my collection is displayed. As you can see, many of them are homemade, which makes them even more special in my mind. (Although I do love having a few really nice sets. This year David surprised me with the Heartwood Creek display).

Last year I got the Willieray design from my parents for my birthday. It is so charming. The little faces have such character, and I love the cows and sheep.

I thought this wreath was pretty unique.

Our Christmas tree skirt.

"JOY" pretty much sums up what the Christ-child brings.

Yes, I need to get that pattern so I can make the nativity mom had, or still has. It brings back so many memories! I can't wait until my Willow Tree Nativity comes so we can finally have a nativity!

Jessi
Those are gorgeous and I love that you want your home to be the most Christ Centered for Christmas by having the nativities around for your children to look at. I especially love the idea of having some that they can touch and hold. Thanks for sharing them!

Jessi, I want to be like you when I grow up!! You are such a good mom to teach your daughters the true meaning of Christmas, not only by your words but also by your actions. I cannot wait to be surrounded by all these reminders of the Christmas story when I visit you super soon! :)
