I've decided that I am going to train for a 10K, and I am SCARED!! I don't like doing things that I'm not good at, and to be honest, I'm not good at running. But I am learning that proficiency isn't a prerequesite for participation. In fact, the things that have brought me the most satisfaction are things I've had to work and struggle to accomplish. I could sign up for a 5K, but I've decided to push myself. I have worked out a training plan in which I make incremental improvements. (Which is another thing I've learned. In order to run a 10K I don't have to be able to run 6.4 miles now. I start where I am and slowly improve). And these lessons don't apply exclusively to running. I can apply them in every aspect of my life. As I do, I learn new things and discover new talents. It's hard to do hard things, but it is always worth it!
