Lydia wants to quit dance class. I typically wouldn't care except that she is a beautiful dancer and I hate to see her not developing her talents. And if Lydia quits McKenna won't go without her, and McKenna has really enjoyed the class. I don't know what to do. Part of me believes I should let her make her own decisions and then accept the consequences of them. But another part of me feels like I should make her continue. I quit dance when I was her age and have always regretted it. I don't want her to look back and regret developing a talent that could have brought her joy. But I do have to be careful not to superimpose my dreams on Lydia. I have had visions of her going to BYU and performing as a Cougarette, but if those are not her dreams I can't force them upon her. Any advice?

So after thinking about it some more, I thought it would be totally fine to talk to her about all the reasons why she should continue dancing. Try and get her to realize her potential and the joy in continuing dance. You can try and persuade, but I still believe that ultimately, she makes the decision.
What are her reasons for wanting to quit? I second Audra--talk it out with her, listen to her feelings and viewpoints, give her your feelings and viewpoints, try to persuade her to do what you think is best for her, and then let her do what she wants to do. Who knows, maybe she'll quit and miss it and want to start back up again...
I agree with your sisters. Also, maybe you could try a different class at a different studio. What about just changing the day? Maybe it has something to do with who is in her class, or maybe she's particularly tired that day. I do think if she quits now, she will miss it in a few weeks and want to go back. She really seems to enjoy it, and she is good at it. That's a hard one...I'll think more about it.
