Today David and I celebrate our NINE year anniversary. We spent a wonderful weekend at PuraVida Bed & Breakfast (thanks Audra & Mike!) in Dahlonega and are now back to "reality." I loved every minute I was able to spend with David and am a little sad to have that time end. For 26 hours it was just the two of us, no e-mail to check, no phone calls to make, no children to quiet, and it was WONDERFUL. Lately we haven't been able to spend very much time together, especially uninterrupted time, and I was beginning to feel like we were living parallel lives. It was nice to be able to reconnect and to renew what brought us together in the first place.
Some of the highlights of our weekend "out of town" included strolling around the PuraVida perennial garden, soaking in the very large hot tub (it could probably be called a hot pool!), taking a nap, eating Turkey Reuben sandwiches at Dante's on the Dahlonega square, listening to the windchimes ringing, and getting a professional Swedish massage. David also enjoyed pointing out all the dogwoods to me and how they grow in pairs. "Some people call them sister trees," he said, "but I like to think of them as lovers."
Hanging in my bedroom is one of my favorite quotes, done in beautiful calligraphy by Audra. It says: "Love is the divinest attribute of the human soul. There is no difficulty, there is no sorrow, there is no success, there is no fame, there is no wealth, there is nothing in the world which can separate two hearts that are bound by the golden clasp of love" (David O. McKay). Love, also termed charity, is the key to a happy, successful marriage, and I hope that our hearts are bound with that golden clasp.
