In church yesterday a man made a comment about how we need to go beyond the "Sunday School answers" in order to really live the gospel. While I understand the point he was trying to make, I felt like clarifying his point. The Sunday School answers are the answers for a reason. Prayer, scripture study, church attendance, service, family home evening, temple work, etc. are the way we build our faith and learn about the gospel. The way is plain and simple. If we focus on applying the principles we learn in Sunday School "great things are brought to pass."

It bothers me when people make light of the "Sunday School answers," or gloss over them as though they were easy. I don't know about all of y'all, but it's not easy for me to consistently say meaningful prayers, have meaningful scripture study, fulfill my calling, make it to the temple often, etc. The words have so much depth in them!!
So true! We need the basic and simple truths! The gospel really is simple!
I agree with you! I would have shot my hand up and exclaimed, "You are looking beyond the mark, if you think that Sunday School answers are trite!" What we need to ask is, "Am I DOING the Sunday school answers!" Now that's deep!
